Sockpuppetry at The Quantum Pontiff

(Update here.)
Dave Bacon ridicules the Naschie Party's lawsuit against Nature.

Here's his November 6, 2009 post: A Tactic Named Sue. His December 2, 2008 post has amusing comments in it too: Nature on El Naschie.

  1. For some strange reason Dave Bacon didn't confirm my comment (in the post "A Tactic Named Sue") in which I gave the link to the full text of the deleted Nature's article in this blog. Maybe he thinks I'm a sockpuppet of some sort despite I gave my real email address. :D

Anyway, Martin and Jason gave the link later.

  2. Hehe that's funny, shrink. You must be blacklisted for some reason. ;) My post there went in instantly. There was no delay for moderation and approval.

  3. Pretty strange indeed. I've never posted about El Naschie outside this blog or Kvarkadabra. I'll make another try to test your hypothesis. :)

  4. Maybe you have cookies turned off. Sometimes that makes a difference.

  5. I have cookies enabled. Anyway, I managed to post there instantly. Maybe the reason for the previous failure is the fact I didn't specify an URL. This time I put elnaschie watch blog's URL and it worked. :D

  6. It was only a matter of time: a sockpuppet appeared in the recent post, too. :D

  7. I think we had this post (by had this post I mean: exactly - on a word by word basis - had this post) already several times? Am I wrong? It sounds very similar to the stuff that was posted when it all started and he still believed, he could just fix this by posting this. Hey. Maybe he -still- believes that?!

  8. Jap. El Naschie sockpuppets are in fact spammers, e.g., their latest posts (two new sockpuppets "Jant" and "PW") on FQXi's forum provide the same "old" conspiracy theory (let's call it The Dutch Stratagem :D) with some new insights: presumably (due to El Naschie's rich fantasies, of course) a PhD student is working day and night with his mentor "to reformulate El Naschie's work in order to call it their own".

  9. Heh, Zoran Skoda responded to Anon's (El Naschie's) conspiracy theory claims. See his comment under the post "A Tactic Named Sue".

  10. Ha, sockpuppet "Brian" is insulting Skoda for his illiteracy in English. Maybe that is so, but I'm quite sure El Naschie is illiterate in Physics.

  11. I've never actually witnessed any grownup so boorish and just plain stupid as to insult an accomplished academic for their imperfect use of a non-native tongue. It's breathtaking. By the way, you'll notice that "Brian" for no apparent reason used the odd turn of phrase "need I say more". This is much like "Buddy" saying "Do I need to say more?" on the FQXi thread. An affected linguistic tic that a native English speaker would not use except in special contexts not pertaining in these cases. They are undoubtedly the same person.
