Garret Lisi is the surfer dude with An Exceptionally Simple Theory of Everything based on E8.
The Naschie Party are envious of the attention Lisi receives in the popular media, and spam comment threads with demands that El Naschie's contributions be recognized whenever an article about Lisi appears, as with the November 2007 and January 2008 Telegraph pieces. At FQXi-107 and FQXi-108, El Naschie's sockpuppets exasperated Lisi so severely that he insisted the forum administrator banish them to FQXi-395, whose voluminous comments we archive here.
Luboš Motl gives Lisi a sound thrashing in this post from November 7, 2007: Garrett Lisi: An exceptionally simple theory of everything. I wish Luboš would write a post devoted entirely to El Naschie, but that's not likely to happen. He considers El Naschie too far down the credibility scale to bother with.
Luboš links to this funny Uncyclopedia entry for Lisi, from which the graphic comes.
On The Daily Galaxy, here's Rebecca Sato who says
Could a beach bum really come up with the answer to the biggest question in the universe? Some fellow physicists say there is no way, and are calling Lisi a “crackpot” and worse. But maybe they’re just jealous they didn’t think of it first. Or maybe they’re just bitter about the possibility that they’ve spent the last 30 years glued to their calculators in vain, while this guy was out catching waves. Yeah, that’s got to hurt.
That's all for now. If you have any El Naschie news, please tell us. Does anyone know what happened at the Cultural Salon yesterday?
