  1. El Naschie's Rosa Al-Youssef column is up for Thursday June 17. Arrogance of power and absolute beginning of the end. Arabic or English.

El Naschie recalls an old BBC interview with Bertrand Russell in which Russell said "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" presumably quoting Lord Acton.

El Naschie says practically everyone has learned that lesson and points to the Roman Empire, Arabs in Andalusia, fascism in Italy, Nazism in Germany, communism in Russia and extreme capitalism in America as examples. The only ones who haven't learned are the Israelis, and El Naschie hopes Israel will be replaced by "a country like South Africa, where all religions and all races in peace and justice, without the arrogance of power."
