Prof. Otto E. Rössler responds to El Naschie Watch

A blogger with alias "JTankers" or "JimT" and known to Otto Rössler as "Jim" is the proprietor of a blog called LHC Facts, which is dedicated to matters of Large Hadron Collider safety. El Naschie Watch readers will want to read Jim's post Dr. Rössler Responds to El Naschie Watch, which he has filed in a "character assassination" category.

From Jim's comment on Armin Albarracin's Notepad.ch you can see that he has drunk Rössler's kool-aid to the last drop.

Comment from: JTankers [Visitor] http://www.lhcfacts.org

Excellent work over the years you covered this topic Armin.

I enjoyed reading your thoughtful interview with Dr. Roessler, who I have long considered to be one of the world's great thinkers.

Dr. Roessler's elegant discovery that relativity theory requires black holes to only approach (but not actually reach) infinite density and only approach time stoppage was pure genius I thought.

(Roessler's discovery allows "black hole math" to be fully calculated, contrary to the common belief the "math breaks down" in the center of black holes. A scientific "game changer" clearly. [More of a paradigm shift than a game changer, I think])

Thanks again,
JimT

Notepad.ch has also published Prof. Rössler's response: Prof. Otto. E. Roessler: Reply to Anti-Roessler blog El Naschie Watch.

For convenience, here are Jim's post, Rössler's reply, and a response I posted to Notepad.ch, and which as of this writing awaits moderation.

Dr. Rössler Responds to El Naschie Watch
Hello fans of Dr. Rössler and people who oppose “character assassination” and censorship.

Below is a web site dedicated to attacking the credibility and characters of Dr. Otto Rössler (http://www.scholarpedia.org/article/User:Rossler) and Dr. El Naschie (http://www.el-naschie.net/) who published many of Dr. Rossler’s papers in the past (as editor of Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, fired shortly after Dr. Rössler publicly raised concerns about possible theoretical safety issues with the Large Hadron Collider). This web site began publishing (full time) in February 2009, and it is very professional appearing.

The disturbing web site is El Naschie Watch:
http://elnaschiewatch.blogspot.com/2010/07/master-list-for-otto-e-rossler.html

The web site appears to be a “full time effort” by a writer with strong physics background and a single agenda: To attack and discredit the reputations of Dr. Rössler and Dr. Naschie [don't forget Ji-Huan He].

This appears similar to the full time effort of physicists who blogged in pairs at “LHC Concerns.com” in 2008 in an effort to calm and refute concerns about CERN and the Large Hadron Collider, This effort began shortly after CERN announce it would direct 10 of its employees (http://www.lhcfacts.org/category/cern/lhc-bloggers/) to blog on the web in pairs, to help educate the public about CERN and the LHC.

El Naschie Watch is currently focused on removing Dr. Rössler from the many editorial boards that he is a member of (http://elnaschiewatch.blogspot.com/2010/07/master-list-for-otto-e-rossler.html).

I find it a bit disturbing that this effort might be funded by CERN (unknown) [I wish], as CERN may be immune from most legal recourse due to its “special legal status” as an independent scientific organization.

Rössler's reply

Dear Jim:

I had not seen this highly professional website [El Naschie Watch, he means. If Rössler is telling the truth about this, it means that he can't be a primary author of the two dozen or so E-infinity screeds, as I had long assumed.] and its great anonymously signed efforts at “proving” that I do not even “deserve” to be proven wrong with my proof of danger.

This gives everyone the impression that the whole scientific community is unable to disprove my simple new result in general relativity found as an implication of Einstein’s equation and Birkhoff’s theorem - notwithstanding the fact that it upsets the safety equation of the currently running LHC experiment at CERN by an infinite factor.

In this way, this marvellous website does a maximally large disservice to CERN.

If this is the best the scientific community can muster in the face of new results that if correct save the planet, the planet gets a maximally clear message here - on one of the most beautifully done web pages of history.

Being CERN’s only genuine friend, I feel I have to ask for an apology in their name. If I do get it, this will be the strongest evidence so far that CERN’s alleged allies do have a counterproof up their sleeve. Since all I desire is to be proven wrong, this at first sight “too fair” response of mine makes maximum sense to everyone. For ’science is friendship’ [and math is pottery, don't forget] as you know.

Take care, dear Jim,
Otto.
P.S. Could you post this?

My response

Dear Prof Rössler,

Thanks for calling my blog, El Naschie Watch, a "highly professional website", "this marvellous website", and even "one of the most beautifully done web pages of history". I am overwhelmed.

There have been further posts about you since the one linked to.

A small correction: I write under my own name, not anonymously. My location and contact information are given.

Allow me to invite you to write a guest post on El Naschie Watch, long or short, on any topic of interest or importance to you. Email it to me using the envelope widget in the left column. (hasten dot jason at gmail dot com)

Sincerely,

Jason

Some statements of the scientific community on Rössler's black hole calculations are here (in English):

or here (more calculations in German):
http://www.mathematik.tu-darmstadt.de/~bruhn/CommRoesslerPaper.html

Rössler's arguments are pure crackpottery that could never be published in a mainstream journal.

This thread also contains some reactions of Rössler to El Naschie Watch:
http://www.relativ-kritisch.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1833&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

from which our reader concludes:

Apparently, Rössler does not like, that one unmasks publicly his connections to El Naschie, Parisi and others. Apparently, he does not like that one shows publicly him trying to publish his relativity nonsense for years.

Apparently, he does not like the planned master list of his editorial positions also.

Rössler does not accept the negative peer review reports of the Max-Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics. He did not accept any calculation showing him wrong. He is a pure crackpot.

And the reader tells us of Rössler's connection to a scientific association with DDR roots:

In this thread:
http://www.relativ-kritisch.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1286&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=930
and in particular comment 14.07.2010, 00:02, it is remarked that Rössler is a member of a scientific association from the ex-DDR (the communist part of Germany during 1950-89). After the end of the DDR in 1989, this association changed its name and goes now under Leibniz-Sozietät.

And another thing:

In Germany, a university can remove one's PhD if the bearer of that title does things that are not condign for people with a PhD. It is questionable whether a person who makes world-ends propaganda and doomsday forecasts based on crackpot physics is dignified enough for having a PhD. Bearing a PhD means that one should know the basic laws of how to do a scientific study. This includes that if a person gets negative peer review reports from all experts, the person should recognize that he/she is wrong. Confusing laymen with doomsday propaganda based on crackpot physics that already got negative reviews is scientific misconduct.

The university of Konstanz has removed the PhD of Jan Hendrik Schön who published fake papers in science. Maybe one even can remove the PhD of Otto Rössler, if one just mails the right persons.

PhD revocation? Ouch! Well, if anyone knows who to write to, please leave a comment in the Master List.

  4. Awesome links and information, thank you. I will read it all carefully. I did not know about Rössler's DDR/Leibniz-Sozietät connection. That's very interesting. It makes his infatuation with New Ageism and Postmodernism more understandable, because left-wing nuts are for some reason more susceptible to that than right-wing nuts.
