Dramatis personæ

Compare these two comments.

The first is an August 21 comment from barrister trainee Craig on Pressgazette.

Jason is nothing but a pseudo name to some criminal internet elements who could be hired by those who have interest in defaming somebody. El Naschie has sued Macmillan which is the owner of Scientific American, Nature and Die Zeit. All three have published defamatory articles in a concerted action to cover up a plagiarism committed by a group working in Belgium against Mohamed El Naschie and Ji Huan He and their school. The group in Belgium is headed by a Nobel Laureate. They seem to have used the prestige of the Nobel Laureate to induce Nature to publish the defamatory article in retaliation to the complaint by El Naschie supporters who consider the paper published in Scientific American and not quoting the work of El Naschie to be scandalous. That is all what could be said correctly about this case.

Craig, barrister trainee.

The second was pointed out to me by Martin. It is a YouTube comment on an El Naschie video, also posted on August 21.

Scorpion300100

Mr. Sheshtwi you are nothing but a pseudo name for several people who are dying of envy. You are little midgets scientifically and morally. You are frightened to death because of the moral superiority of others. Your real name is of no importance, You may be Khalil [1] the bootlicker of Helal [2], you may be Said [3], the husband of the convicted thief Shadia [4]. You may be Ramadan [5], the paid crook of the Egyptian Television. There is no want for people like you. You are a disgrace for Egypt.

Wanas

The styles are the same, including the exact phrase "nothing but a pseudo name". Barrister trainee "Craig" and "Wanas" are the same person. In real life he is Mohamed El Naschie's youngest brother Amr S. Elnaschai, who often writes under the pseudonym Scorpion300. In this case he uses Scorpion300100; perhaps Scorpion300 was taken.

Wanas was replying to this year-old comment from YouTube user Elsheshtwi:

Really, Big Liar. Why you have retired from the Journal Chaos, Solitons, and Fractals? did you read the nature article about your scandals in science.

Elsheshtwi and Scorpion300 have tangled before, as in Two men. Only one can be champion.

The Scorpion300 comment signed "Wanas" contains references that will be obscure to even the most hard-boiled detectives. Let us determine the referents as best we can.

[1] It could be a coincidence, but someone named Khalil, or sometimes S. Khalil, is referred to several times in That SCIAM comment archive as an ally or sockpuppet of Said Elnaschiae, and opponent of Mohamed El Naschie.

[2] This is Hany Helal, the Egyptian Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research. See Hany Helal and Hany Elnazer for more information.

[3] Said Elnaschiae is El Naschie's black sheep brother. English or Arabic.

[4] Shadia Al-Shishini is Said's wife. By a previous marriage, Shadia is the mother of actress Jihan Fadel.

[5] Khairy Ramadan is the polite but skeptical interviewer of El Naschie in the Elbeet Beetak videos. The third and best video ends with Ramadan asking whether most of El Naschie's papers were published in his own journal. El Naschie says "Er... No!" LOL. Note that Scorpion300 has attacked Ramadan before about this interview.

Readers, please help pin down Khalil and Helal.

  1. As I read it again, you're probably right: it's more likely about Hani Helal.

  2. I'm glad we agree. That leaves only Khalil to figure out.

  3. Question for Zahy or any Arabic reader. What does this mean:

    Etaky shar man ahsanat eleyeh

It occurs in the SCIAM archive, addressed to Said, in a paragraph in which Khalil is mentioned. I'm pretty sure it's Amr Elnaschai who wrote it.

An old Arab saying meaning, "Beware wrongs done to you by those you have been good to."

  5. The confusion over "Helal" was my mistake in an old comment so let me correct it. "Hany Helal" was and still is the minister for higher education and scientific research. The other guy was "Hany Elnazer", the ex-head of the National Center for Scientific Research. The struggle between them was known at the time as "A Tale of two Hany's". Hany Helal the minister presides over the state prizes in science through the National Academy for Sciences. Hany Elnazer, who was quite the media star, was nominated for the prize and the majority of the committee voted for him. On the day of the announcement when the whole Academy takes a second vote (usually a formality since they take the recommendation of the committee that deliberates on the nominations), an odd thing happened. Both Hany Elnazer and Hany Helal are members of the Academy because of their adminstrative roles. Hany Elnazer stepped outside before the vote on his prize and went to the podium of the press conference awaiting everyone coming out with the announcement. To everyone's shock, the minister Hany Helal came out saying that the prize would be cancelled this year! Hany Elnazer was fuming and stated a media campaign against Hany Helal, including an interview on Elbeet Beetek with our old buddy Khairy Ramadan who was completely sympathetic with Hany Elnazer against Hany Helal. Subsequently, Hany Helal made an appearance on the show explaining that the 'candidate' (without naming Hany Elnazer) had not published a single paper in years and that he had an H-index of ZERO, making him unsuitable for a top state science prize. He wasn't clear how this came up AFTER the committee had decided upon him, and he just said that it was something that was making the head of the National Academy uncomfortable. You can see how the douche can flourish in a country like Egypt where the members of the National Science Academy tink that a zero H-index isn't enough to derail a nomination for a top state prize in science.

Since then, Hany Elnazer has retired and has entered politics full-time working with the ruling party (he is a member of the infamous Political Committee of the National Democratic Party, a committee headed by the President's son no less), while Hany Helal against all odds, modulo the famous incident with Mohammed El-Saadany, is still the minister. Mohammed El-Saadany tried to muddy the waters saying that Hany Helal was behind thwarting the douche's plans for a scientific revival, only for Helal to appear in the famous kiss with the douche during his cancer 'award' ceremony, and the douche suddenly remembering in one of his idiotic Rosa ElYoussef columns that he actually befriended the young Helal in London decades ago. And the circus goes on ...

  6. The names dropped by El naschie and his sock-puppets shouldn't be taken seriously.

Sometimes El naschie uses the names of real people exactly or with deviation as names of his sock-puppets. Some times drops names of real people that he consider him as his enemy like the case of Ahmed Zewail.

It is interesting to search for names used by El naschie, in CSF authors.
    For examples
    1- Helal, then you find
    M.A. Helal
El naschie uses this as A. Helal or Lotfi Helal.

2- For Duncan you find D.B. Duncan

3- For Galal you find Galal M. Moatimid

4- For Brown you find D.A. Brown

5- For Islam (some times El naschie used Eslam) you find M.R. Islam or Saiful Islam.

6- For Khalil you find E.M. Khalil or Ali E. Khalil.

7- For Wanas, the recent name that you discovered on youtube's comments, you find M.I Wanas.

There are endless examples. One should remember that El naschie used the name of Nasser Ahmed and the Head of physics department in Alexandria university.
