A cryptic column from the great man

El Naschie's Rosa Al-Youssef column is up for Monday, 21 March 2011. Original Arabic or Google's English translation. And here's Bing's English.

The machine translations of today's column are the least satisfactory I have ever seen. Completely incomprehensible. El Naschie is speaking poetically and metaphorically and Google Translate is flailing hopelessly. There's no point in putting it inline, it's so bad.

The title is "Et tu, Brute?" quoting Julius Caesar from the Ides of March. Therefore seemingly El Naschie is accusing someone of being a traitor, perhaps presidential aspirant Mohamed ElBaradei, but that's a guess.

  1. It is not the translation, that is bad, the article is completely incoherent. Elnaschie completely lost his mind. My native tongue is arabic and I could not understand what he meant. He is very angry to see someone treated very well, I felt that he means Zewil at some point and at another I felt that the person that is driving his crazy is his brother Said. Someone, he feels very angry at and is getting a lot of attention from the revolution.

  2. Thank you for that. I am encouraged that Google Translate and my own powers of interpretation are not completely at fault.

  3. "Do not worry I did not mention your name" from the second paragraph suggests strongly that he is talking about his brother Said. He and his other brother Amr (a.k.a. Scorpion300) often use those words while addressing criticisms at Said in public forums. See El Naschie attacks his brother Said for another example of attacking with name avoidance.

And in fact Said has been in the Egyptian news a lot lately, more than El Naschie. I have not been posting about it on this blog because I thought people might be bored with excessive Said Elnashaie coverage. It may be time to reconsider, because El Naschie himself is making Said an issue.
