I am grateful to Al Ahram for the opportunity to reach out to the Supreme Council and the people of Egypt even from faraway London. I wish I could be there. I have so much love for the Egyptian people; for Cairo, for Alexandria, for my hometown Fareskour... but I'm getting a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes, which is undignified in a man of my age, so let me just say the one thing on my mind.
The Supreme Council is doing a wonderful job guiding Egypt through these tumultuous times. It would be terrible to throw that all away with some elections which are only asking for trouble. If there are elections, the Zionists will manipulate them, as they do in America, France, and around the world. Besides, it is clear to anyone paying attention that only Field Marshal Tantawy has the demonstrated wisdom and strength to guide the Egyptian people. Again and again he has proved his mettle as an officer and a leader.
I humbly offer myself to the Armed Forces Council, in my capacity as a scientist of some considerable international reputation, to advise on the policies Egypt needs to move ahead on the nuclear front, and with nanotechnology. Of course I refuse any compensation but the joy of serving Egypt. As you may know, I have been several times nominated for the Nobel Prize in Physics. Tel Aviv denied me it because I am a Muslim, I carry an Egyptian passport, and I am named Mohamed. So the treachery of the Zionists is well-known to me. Take my words to heart, Field Marshal Tantawy.
Or if I may be so bold: Your Excellency Mohamed Hussein Tantawy, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
