El Naschie v Nature has begun

The trial began at 10:30 AM London time, i.e., about six hours ago. The Royal Courts of Justice Cause List for tomorrow - Tuesday, 1 November 2011 - contains no entry for the case.

I don't know why. The case was expected to run 15 or 20 days.

  1. Inforrm's Blog informs us of the "El Naschie v MacMillan Publishers Ltd":

"On Monday 31 October 2011, the trial of El Naschie v MacMillan Publishers Ltd will begin before Sharp J (without a jury). It is listed for a period of 15 to 20 days. An earlier application in the case was heard by the same judge in May 2011 (see [2011] EWHC 1468 (QB))"

but there are two mistakes: An earlier application was NOT heard by the same judge and, apparently, there's a jury now.

  2. Thanks, Shrink. I tried to leave a comment there pointing out the judge is different, but it didn't appear.

I realize the recent announcements say "jury list" but I'd like confirmation that there's a jury. If there is, I'd guess that makes the trial take longer.

Man, I wish someone in London would go there and give us a report. We have lots of London readers.

  3. Inforrm's Blog also has this March 11, 2011 post that may shed some light on Mrs. Justice Sharp's judicial temperament. She is hostile to newspapers and friendly to complainants who claim their privacy is violated.
