An important one-sentence story from wn.com suggests that El Naschie may be giving up his presidential campaign. Original Arabic or Google's English translation.
or in English:
Ayman Nour: I will run for the presidency within a team of "El Naschie" and "BMS" and "Zahran"
Dr. Ayman Nour, the leader of the Revolution's Tomorrow Party, and a likely candidate for the presidency, said he decided to run for president in a team comprising of Dr. Mohamed El Naschie, artist Mohamed Sobhy [possibly this guy] and energy expert Dr. Ibrahim Zahran [I don't know who this is], pointing out that negotiations are nearing completion with partisan Democratic Front and the Reform and Development representatives to bring them to the team.
This is a surprising development. For one thing, Mohamed El Naschie's brother Said Elnashaie is an associate of Ayman Nour, and Mohamed and Said don't get along at all. Also I would have thought Nour was too far to the left for El Naschie. But perhaps he'll adopt whatever ideology keeps him in the limelight.
Yes, it's true. El Naschie has quit the presidential race! Almasry Alyoum and several other news outlets have the story: «El Naschie» gives up his run for the presidency in favor of «Nour». Original Arabic or Google's English translation.
Another strange thing is why Nour would welcome El Naschie. Nour hated Mubarak and was imprisoned by the old regime from January 2005 to February 2009. While El Naschie wanted Mubarak to get the Nobel Peace Prize. What strange bedfellows.
